The US Treasury Department’s Adeyemo, Qatari leaders discussed Afghanistan’s humanitarian needs

WASHINGTON, November 19 (Reuters) – US Deputy Finance Minister Wally Adeyemo and senior Qatar leaders discussed this week their common interest in meeting the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people, the US Treasury Department said in a statement on Friday.

Adeyemo also discussed equitable growth, the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges and opportunities of virtual assets during his meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdelaziz Al Thani and other senior government and economic leaders in Doha on Thursday.

The United States and Qatar have reaffirmed their intention to work together to combat illegal financing, the Treasury Department said.
