Vancouver’s queen of blues, Dalannah Gail Bowen, and hip hop / soul / R & B duo Lady Jams will perform at a charity concert for Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan (CW4WAfghan). The collection, titled Voices for Hope, takes place in the Historical Theater at Cultch.

CW4WAfghan, which has been in operation since 1998, is a charitable organization that promotes “human rights for Afghan women and girls through access to education, distribution of basic necessities to internally displaced people and assistance in securing safe passage for refugees.”

With the return of the Taliban’s ultraconservative political and religious government following the failure of the 1991-2021 war in Afghanistan, issues of women’s access to education and other aspects of equality are at the center of the country again.

100 percent of the funds raised for this concert will be used to fund support for women fleeing the regime and CW4WAfghan education programs. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the nation.
